Our cat sometimes launches himself into objects, rather than climbing them. This tower seems stable enough to withstand this kind of abuse. I have not found it necessary but it comes with a wall-mount strap to prevent it from toppling over. With small children it might be wiser to use it.
Tower came with some spare parts, a hex key and clear assembly instructions, which is all that was needed to assemble it in under an hour.
We got the dark gray version and it looks great.
