Why Do Some Tall Cat Trees Feel Crowded Once You Set Them Up?
Posts eat up landing room. Several owners bought some sisal rope to replace the worn out bits on scratching posts, and the carpet is in good shape and just seems to need cleaning in a couple of spots.
Big cats outgrow narrow decks. On virtually all of the basket-only trees you see, it seems the cat would have to step on the cat they are trying to pass to get to a basket above.
Where Do Big Cats Run Out of Stepping Room on a Busy Tree?
Stacked boxes pinch the climb. There is nothing worse than buying a cat tree only to discover once it’s home that the top beds are too small for a bigger cat to fit comfortably.
The carpet underneath the base makes it wobbly. A cat loves to rest on the top platforms, and since the cat is now a very big kitty, the cat is starting to get too big to rest comfortably on the tree.
Most standard cat trees seem too flimsy or small. Owners want to buy a new cat tree for their girls that has sisal rope all around the poles and not that middle sisal part capped on either side by carpet.
The cats like to bat at the sisal rope. Older cats can’t comfortably twist or climb a height more than maybe a foot and a half, and there is also a cat condo in every room because there should be a scratch post in almost every room.
How Do Wide Platforms and Side Baskets Open Up the Climb?
Some senior cats are much more spry than others. They barely have enough room to run, and they last a long time, are very sturdy and cats love their cat trees and the stairs to get on the beds.
They also really love the trees with baskets. An adult cat likes to sleep stretched out quite often and it doesn’t seem the platforms are that large. The base has pillars on all four corners, not a lab test, and it should be easy to get from one level to the next.
How Do Our Open-Platform Layouts Compare for Big Cats?
The kittens are sleeping on the cat tree. Many owners have a cat tree that’s connected by screwing cylinders of wood to the base and platforms of the tree, and for some of the screws washers are also provided to tighten up the tree.
They do sell larger perches for bigger cats. It’s going to take months of close supervision and making high places where the kitty can go, and an oversized five-post top bed helps when two average sized cats can comfortably play on it together.
